Did you know that turtles live 100 years? Wonder if they even have life insurance? Why would they need it? If you knew that your ‘average’ life span was 100, would you even bother? Or, maybe they have an even better reason to buy life insurance than humans do–there are only so many decades you can be married before one turtle would start to think about offing the other turtle…that life insurance could provide for all the kids they have produced over the course of their long, healthy relationship!
I guarantee there are only so many times you can hear the same stories, over and over, from your mate of say, 80 years. Of course, maybe they are not so healthy in their old age, and the stories sound new every time they hear them!
However, as slow as those turtles move, could they be at risk of getting sick? Preventing cardiovascular disease is all about moving, and turtles are not known for their speed. Perhaps, if they picked up the pace, they would live even longer? The turtles who jump on the treadmill might even see a lifespan of 200 years. But what a price to pay! Why mess up that lazy, day to day existence with a sweaty cardio session? Let the turtles be. After all, a 100 year lifespan is not too shabby.
