The Community Tree Recovery program was created out of the great need for trees in the wake of natural disasters such as fires, tornadoes, floods, and hurricanes. Since the program began in 2012, Arbor Day Foundation members, donors, and partners have helped to distribute nearly 3 million trees at 346 events in local communities affected by these disasters.
And while the long-term environmental benefits of these trees are tremendous—particularly in terms of energy savings, air quality, water quality, and carbon sequestration—the personal stories of the individuals who received these trees are even more incredible.
