Homeowner Insurance Company – Is One Better Than The Other?

The homeowner policy is an automatic purchase for most families who own their own home. There are hundreds of insurance companies that sell homeowner insurance. Is one better than the other? That is a very difficult question to answer. There are a lot of good insurance companies. Insurance companies are regulated by state insurance departments. They always have to prove their strength to these departments in order to operate within the state. That eliminates a lot of problems for the consumer. You very rarely hear about an insurance company becoming insolvent.

The real issue in most cases is the kind of service that you prefer. Insurance companies have a variety of distribution systems. The agent based system has been around for a long time. If you want on-going professional service and like dealing with a person rather than by telephone then you should search for companies that have agents. The online shopper can receive a quote online and then form a relationship with an agent when it is time to make the purchase. Some people prefer to purchase insurance online and be serviced online or over the telephone. Once you have determined how you want to be serviced then you can narrow down the number of companies that you need to contact.

The AM Best Company is a rating bureau for insurance companies. The AM Best Company gives a company rating based on the financial strength. Most libraries have this resource guide.

Most insurance companies have a multi-policy discount and so shopping for a home policy alone would be a disadvantage. The best company for you is usually the one that gives you the best rate and service for both your auto and home insurance. Don’t get bogged down trying to find the best company because there are too many variables from company to company. Choose your company based on your service needs and the combined rates for your auto and home insurance. Be sure to view our recommended list of insurance companies.

Getting Discounts From Your Auto Insurance Company

Let’s face it an auto insurance company is a business that is created to make a profit and if we are not careful we might end up paying super high premium rates when we could have paid much lower premiums if we only did some research.

Here is a list that I hope will help car owners in lowering their premium rates:

• Safety devices against car thieves

Who would ever think that theft devices are valuable not only in guarding your car against thieves, but also in lowering your premium? Theft devices come in various types. Some are automatic while some need to be manually operated. All these theft devices provide extra premium discounts. In some states window sketching may also be a source of additional premium discounts.

• Multiple car discount

Let us say that you have two cars (for the sake of the illustration) that you want to insure with an auto insurance company. Usually you have to pay separate premiums but did you know that you could actually save a great deal on the premium that you will be paying for your second car? How? Consult your insurance agent to help you.

• Choose Yearly Renewable Auto Insurance Policies

Purchasing a yearly auto insurance policy will provide you with greater savings since the premium rate is fixed for one year compared to buying a six-month policy which changes rates every six months. If you purchase a six-month policy the premium you paid on your first semi-annual premium will not be the same as your second annual premium payment. So instead of saving, you tend to pay more for the same amount of benefits.

• Comprehensive storage coverage

The comprehensive storage coverage is ideal if you are thinking of storing your car for a period of time. It is a great savings idea to keep only the comprehensive coverage during the time you store your car since other coverage will not be required. A car in the garage is unlikely to get into a collision thus it will not require liability coverage.

• Mileage

The mileage that your car travels everyday has a significant effect on the premium rate that you are to pay since the mileage will determine the particular class in which your car belongs. Each class has a different premium rate.

• Organization affiliation

There are many auto insurance companies that offer a discount for being affiliated with certain organizations. These organizations may range from credit unions, college sororities and fraternities, or just having a certain credit card may also earn you a considerable discount on your premium. To be sure, call your service center and ask them for a list of the organization affiliations that they accredit, the same goes with the credit cards.

• Defensive driving course

Some auto insurance companies provide considerable discounts simply by attending defensive driving courses. For more details just check with your state insurance commissioner or you insurance company to see if you qualify and also to inquire on their accredited driving centers.

Free Insurance Quotes To Save You Money!

Whether you’re looking for insurance quotes for auto, life, travel or health you can find some great rates on the internet. Insurance quotes coverage can provide peace of mind and also financial coverage in the event that something untoward happens.

Originally health insurance in the United States took the form of a voluntary program. Such programs date from about 1850, when health insurance was provided chiefly by cooperative mutual benefit and fraternal beneficiary associations. Insurance quotes can now be obtained online from the internet.

Insurance quotes for life insurance, originally conceived to protect a man’s family when his death left them without income, has developed into a variety of policy plans. In a “whole life” policy, fixed premiums are paid throughout the insured’s lifetime; this accumulated amount, augmented by compound interest, is paid to a beneficiary in a lump sum upon the insured’s death; the benefit is paid even if the insured had terminated the policy.

When looking for individual health insurance or other insurance quotes remember that “Individual” refers to the person buying the coverage, but the individual health insurance covers your whole family. You may have to pay more for your coverage than if you were part of a large organization, however it is possible to locate bargains that actually save you money over what you would have to pay if you simply left a company and picked up the cost of your COBRA.

Many people today have opted to be self-employed which carries the added necessity of acquiring individual health insurance for them and their families. Consider it a necessary expense that will actually save you money in the long-term. Insurance quotes can now be found on the internet. Get a free insurance quote and you’ll find that you can save some money.

Finding Your Best Life Insurance Company

Purchasing life insurance is a big decision, and we all want the best coverage for the least cost. However, money is not the only factor that goes into choosing a life insurance company. Below are five factors that separate best life insurance companies from the average ones. You will want to consider when choosing the best life insurance company, and policy, for you.

First, after you have shopped around a bit, thrown out the definite “no way’s” and decided on a couple of “maybe” c andidates, you will want to make sure that the one you choose in the end is both well-established and financially stable. You can find this information from the insurance companies themselves, but you might want to consider asking around, as well. Talk with someone who has used or is still using the company’s services. Research the life of the company, too.

Second, you will want to choose a company that does not discriminate against age or existing health issues. These kinds of discriminations make it almost impossible for people to get life insurance.

Third, choose a life insurance company whose policies will not change and premiums will not increase as you get older.

Fourth, it is important for the life insurance company you choose to have a staff of well-trained and objective insurance agents. You want an agent who is unbiased and will help you find the best policy for you, and not what will make the most money for them.

Fifth, and last, make sure the life insurance company you choose has a policy just for you. Your policy needs to fit both your coverage needs and your budget.

Once you have taken these factors into consideration, you will find the best life insurance company for you. It will take time, so be patient during your search. It will be worth it because you will reap the rewards of safety and security in the end.

Does Your Insurance Company Want You

Is it better to be loyal to your auto insurance company or yourself? Does it pay to stay with the same company for a long time or not? When it comes to auto insurance these days, if you are with the same company for over a year, then your more than likely being treated like yesterdays success. When I say yesterdays success I mean, your agent usually doesn’t have time to focus on old business, instead they are hungry looking for new auto insurance policies to write. There are multiple reasons why it pays to be willing to pack up and leave for the next good deal!

First off, did you know that most companies have a discount for new customers? They entice you to stay by lowering that discount each year, in hopes of gaining loyalty in the meantime. Isn’t this backwards? Shouldn’t they be lowering the rate each year for being loyal and staying with them?

Then there are all the really old customers out there with low deductibles. Once again the agent didn’t have time to review deductibles and educate how much money could be saved by raising them even a few hundred dollars. Think of your policy. When was the last time your agent called to make sure you were happy with your coverage?

What about credit and your auto insurance policy. This topic has raised more controversy than any when it comes to auto insurance. If you have been with the same company for a long time, this area is far too often costing the customer hundreds of dollars. I have even seen where up to date Insurance scores have saved thous ands per year!

The list could go on and on forever why you will save by being a new customer. Let me sum it all up for you in simplified terms. Insurance companies are literally fighting for your business now days. Competition does one simple thing, saves you money. The same companies have become far too comfortable with there loyal customers. Wake them up. Comparison shop to get better prices.

Take advantage of the competition. Get quotes from multiple companies and let them start competing for your business. If your interested in an excellent source to get quotes from multiple companies with one simple process, then click on the highlighted text. Otherwise shop around wherever you feel comfortable. Take my advice though, and your going to be surprised how much you can save.

Are You Covered And Don’t Realise It?

Am anda was 42 when she was given the difficult news that she had ovarian cancer.

The West Yorkshire woman received chemotherapy treatment after diagnosis, but Am anda became one of the unlucky ones. She had a bad reaction to the chemotherapy and because of this she was unable to work.

So when a tax bill arrived in the post for a large sum of money, re-mortgaging her house felt like the right thing to do. The building society with whom she had the mortgage asked her to bring along her life insurance papers to support the mortgage application.

But to Am anda’s surprise, what she thought was a life insurance policy was in fact critical illness insurance instead. She had been paying out £80 per month for two separate insurance policies with Scottish Provident and Norwich Union and had absolutely no idea that those two policies covered her for critical illness.

As a result, Am anda claimed back a staggering £100,000, which paid not only the tax bill but her mortgage as well.

Many of us haven’t got a clue about the exact sum we’re paying on insurance each year or the details of what we are in fact covered for. Not only are we shocked to find out that we are actually covered for more than we in fact realise, but that we’re doubling up by paying for various types of insurance that actually cover the same thing.

You’ll find that it’s areas such as loss of income, legal expenses, theft and death which most often people wind up paying out twice for when there is no need – mainly because they haven’t carefully read the insurance policy or because it has been the case that some insurance has been put on to some policies as an added bonus.

In a recently released Financial Services Authority survey, it shows that car insurance policies also come with added extras like breakdown recovery and legal expense cover. Paying out for these added extras when you do not want them is an easy mistake to make, according to the survey, because you actually have to physically ring the insurance firm and tell the staff that you do not want them before these ‘options’ are removed from your agreement.

Take permanent medical insurance (PMI) for example. Many aspects of this policy cover you for the same things that Payment Protection Insurance covers you for. But few people realise this and so they take out both.

The FInancial Ombudsman is very aware about the situation surrounding insurance duplication. They say that “people often do not realise until they make a claim that they have been paying for a policy that provides very little, if any, benefit”.

Take a look at your Critical Illness Insurance, as this is one area in which you sometimes get cover from your employer. Find out whether you have this type of insurance with your work before you make the purchase on this policy. Do the same with life insurance, because if you have a company pension scheme, life insurance is something you do not actually need. The reason? Because most company pension schemes have a death-in-service benefit. What this means that should you die while you are still an employee at that particular firm, then large, a tax free payment will be made – a payment which could add up to four times your annual salary at the time of your death, or more.

Other types of insurance you might not need includes mobile phone insurance. The consumer watchdogs will tell you this is something that’s often a waste of money because you have to pay the first £50 of the claim and if you already have home insurance, that insurance might provide you with some protection.

Others include car insurance extras such as legal expense cover. If you are a member of a trade union, then you could have some legal cover anyway.

Some companies trying to get people to take out ID theft insurance. A waste of money? The consumer watchdogs think so because if it is the case your ID gets stolen you are only responsible for the first £50 and most of the time the banks are prepared to waive charges.
